PRAYER SESSIONS
PRELUDE
It needs to be mentioned that, there has been an innovation as far as our monthly prayer meetings are concerned. From this month forward, prayers are to be made for countries within the West African sub-region where we mainly operate. Nigeria was the focus of our prayer meeting today. Elder Egure was full of praise for the organizers of our programs, Particularly Dr. George Akpabli and brother Solomon Mireku for doing Nigeria the honour of being the first to be selected.
LEADING
Although the prayer session was to have been led by Elder Peter Egure, Dr. George Akpabli and Dr. Biodun Owolabi, Elder Egure pleaded with Dr. Akpabli to lead on behalf of himself and Dr. Owolabi since Nigeria was the subject of the prayer session. Dr. Akpabli obliged without any hesitation whatsoever. He first called upon brother Ebenezer TUFFOUR to pray for the political leadership in Nigeria, including His Excellency, The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the Cabinet, the Senate and Senators, Local Government Administrators, amongst several other important segments of the country. Bro. TUFFOUR offered prayers to ask for the Lord’s mercies upon the political leadership for guidance, wisdom and unity of purpose to lead the country to peace and prosperity to improve the quality of the lives of the citizenry, as well as the development of all the sectors of the country.
Dr. Akpabli followed up with prayer for the security of the country.
Attention then shifted to the Church of Christ in Nigeria. Dr. Apkpabli again invited brother Solomon Mireku to pray for the spiritual development, a healthy church as well as a strong leadership for the entire church in Nigeria.
Thereafter, Dr. Akpabli called upon brother Job Tilabi to also pray for the youth, strong Christian homes, baby churches, ministers and families amongst others.
Furthermore, Elder Peter Egure was called upon to pray for other areas we may have glossed over. He did, by praying for the proper management of the vast mineral resources that the country has been endowed with, which unfortunately has been allowed to waist away. His prayer also touched on the political leadership to be more concerned about the wellbeing of the generality of the entire populace against their own parochial and selfish interests. Elder also prayed for other nationals who are domiciled in Nigeria, whose nefarious activities go to give a bad image of Nigeria in the eyes of the international community.
Dr. Akpabli then called upon brother Solomon Mireku to pray for our missionaries on the mission field - Elder Douglas Abraham Boateng and team in Senegal, Gambia and Guinea Bissau as well as brother Charles Odoi and team in Ghana, upper Togo and Benin for a successful mission
Also, the prayer covered brother Hacob Sessay, who has had a fatal accident in Freetown and in critical condition for the Lord’s mercy and healing.
Dr. Akpabli offered the closing prayer to bring the prayer session to a successful closure.
