CMN, W.A.L.K., AND 4 FIELDS DISCIPLESHIP MULTIPLICATION REPORT AFTER RETREAT FOR WEST AFRICAN 4 FIELDS DISCIPLESHIP TRAINERS

(NOVEMBER 18-21, 2025)

Brother Charles had reported the following.

The usual venue for the past 3 years had been Abetifi, in the Eastern Region of Ghana . This year, however, the retreat was held at Dzodze, in the Volta Region of Ghana. There were leaders from many of the new churches we have planted in Togo . As such, proximity and space influenced our decision to try it at Dzodze, close to the Ghana-Togo border.

There were 58 registered participants. There were 12 others who came in and out everyday, bringing the total participants to 70. Aside Ghana and Togo, we had the Ghanaian missionaries in Senegal and Guinea-Bissau in attendance. Also, a disciple from Cotè D’Ivoiré who had transformed the work in his country tremendously after attending previous retreat sent in his report.

DAY 1: TUESDAY 11/18

This was the arrival day and many arrived from several places within Ghana and Togo. Though participants kept arriving even late into the night, the welcome ceremony was held around 6:00pm after participants had been taken to their rooms and dinner had been taken.

In his welcome address, Brother Simon Lawson Dorgbetor, one of the elders of the Dzodze Ablorme congregation thanked the participants for choosing Dzodze for this important program, assured us of serenity and first class hospitality, pleading with the planners to choose Dzodze once again. He stressed on the importance of growing together into the image of Christ, using Ephesians 4:16.

In his devotional speech to climax the opening ceremony, Brother John Morkli thanked those who supported the program financially and prayed for God to bless them abundantly. He also thanked the team of planners for the innovations they had brought into the program this year.

DAY 2: WEDNESDAY 11/19

As usual, the second day was used for Prayer with Fasting. Charles and Desire led the program, blending various Prayer points with 10 Disciples Walk topics, taking a cue from 2 John 1:6. Though this was new to many of the participants, most of them expressed their delight and promised to replicate it in their areas.

DAY 3: THURSDAY 11/20

This is the day we reshaped the future and growth of our work by emphasizing 4 tools. Dr. George Akpabli and Charles Odoi took turns to take participants through the Sword Bible Discovery, Relational Map, Generational Map and 4-1-1 in the Discipling field where new believers grow by bringing many of their family and friends to Christ.

Their training highlighted among others:

- The Church will continue to thrive in Africa even after the next 50 years if every family starts Sword Bible Discovery in their home

- We can reach more of the lost easily by starting and growing small groups that work together with the mother church

- It’s so Simple, Biblical, and Sustainable to grow churches using the 4-1-1.

Participants were so excited and offered several contributions. Two key suggestions some brought as their take home were: Start the Sword Bible Discovery with our children in the Sunday School and ensure that the 4 Fields Discipleship Multiplication model is adopted in the church everywhere in Africa.

We responded to the latter that same conclusion was drawn at the recent ACAC Conference in Freetown. However, we do not have the financial means to go and train in every country. Also, we cannot force ourselves on the brotherhood to accept what we have discovered to be Simple, Biblical, Reproducible, and Sustainable.

DAY 4: FRIDAY 11/21

This was the final day and so we closed half day to make it possible for participants to travel back. Brothers Akpabli and Charles continued with their lessons and our Wives met to plan their future collaborations to assist we their husbands and also empower other ladies in their congregations. Key among their resolve is to start the Sword Bible Discovery in their homes and bring it into the church to help other families.

OTHER MAJOR HIGHLIGHTS IN THE RETREAT

1. We learned a lot from the humility, selflessness and hard work of Brother John Morkli when he took the love seat of ‘Iron on Iron.’

2. The Groups from the Disciples Walk bonded well and prayed among themselves for individuals who needed it. They also enjoyed their time together discovering from the Bible.

3. There were lots of time for rest, bonding and fellowship as well as good meals from Sister Lawrencia and her kitchen team.

4. Delegates were chosen to pray for the owner of the hotel based on Luke 10. The hotel had gone beyond their rules to give us their kitchen so the Sisters could cook from there.

It was a great experience and participants were pleading if we can do it more than once in a year.

Thanks for your support in prayer and finance as well as the encouragement. Keep on with the prayer because we are rejuvenated to do even more in the coming years.
